From a taco cart to a gas station
Before there was a restaurant, there was a cart. Taquizas Mexicali started as exactly that — a family-run taco cart serving Mexicali-style street tacos around the Valley, one plate at a time.
What grew out of that cart became Taqueria Chicali: a 15+ year abandoned gas station in west Phoenix, brought back to life and turned into the restaurant it is today. Every inch of it was carefully designed — but the food is still built the same way it always was.
Angus Certified beef, cooked al carbon over real mesquite charcoal. Al pastor carved fresh off the trompo, made with a signature adobo recipe built from scratch in-house. No shortcuts, no gas grill standing in for the real thing.
“Nothing is Impossible for one who Believes.”
That's been true from the cart to the counter — and it's still true as we grow toward what's next.
